What are the rest of your thoughts on it? I'm torn, it's absurd lol

KavikI reviewed it. I like it, even though it kinda is absurdly large for a slipjoint. For a lot of people it'll be a knife in search of a purpose -- most people don't even do their own food prep let alone with a folding knife. But if you can see yourself using one on occasion, this one's got great balance and feels pretty good in the hand. It should probably have a nail nick on it but I'm happy with my purchase.
reswrightI must be weird (and this is another reason why): I use my knives for food prep more than anything else! I used to use pocket knives at retail for opening packages, but a small utility knife or SAK performed just as well. When I got my Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark 2, it became dedicated as a kitchen/food prep knife. It served as a pairing knife: cutting food packages, slicing off brown bits from veggies, and it was a bit better at cutting Roma tomatoes than my chef’s knife kind of dull edge. I’ll resharpen the kitchen knife eventually… but I like having a small folding knife handy, because I feel like it’s safer when I hand it to my wife and she’s less likely to knock it off the side of the table and chip the edge. I do wish this was a little longer, and the handle:edge geometry made it easier to chop on the cutting board without my fingers getting in the way between handle and cuttingboard. Enter this Amare. Which I haven’t tried, but it appeals in a few ways. The Byrd Meadowlark is more of an EDC size with a 2.375" (61mm) blade, while the 4.4” Amare creator here has a long enough edge to cut an apple or larger tomato in one slice. The amare’s handle allows you to chop veggies with the full length of the blade without your fingers touching the cutting board. It doesn’t have a lock, but you can close it one handed if you need to. Plus… it just looks like a jumbo version of the Prism knife from the same designer, so that’s a bonus!
