Thoughts on the Lensball

search

I saw a post on Reddit this week with a Lensball (https://www.lensball.com/) and got to wondering if they are a good tool. My immediate questions are:
  • Are they durable?
  • Do they have any short comings?
  • How do they compare with the off brands?
I am open to any thoughts you all might have.
Thanks!

It's just a crystal ball, not sure you can call other crystal balls "knock-offs". I found a review of it that linked to one on amazon for less than half the price. Reviewer couldn't tell the difference between the two of them.

Save yourself the money. You can achieve the same effect using a magnifying glass. Also, how many of these shots do you think you will take before you realize they all look the same? If you like the everything-in-the-circle look, get a real fish-eye lens instead, or rent one then decide.

I assume you didn't read my reply to the OP? You should probably read before replying. Also, wrt "flush[ing] your money down the toilet", an 80mm K9 crystal ball costs $15 on amazon (not sure why you'd rather pay $19 on ebay, but whatever), a used nikkor 10.5mm fisheye costs nearly $200 less than a new one. And you don't even get a neat-looking paperweight/lawn ornament for that $200.

shimageNo I didn't. MD's email notification takes me straight to this thread.
