Hello! I saw this keyboard in the morning email today (https://drop.com/buy/nym-84-aluminum-mechanical-keyboard?utm_source=linkshare&referer=Z2JXCA) and I am aware of the three Drop branded keyboards, and I just have to ask: What makes these special?
As someone who only uses Apple-bundled keyboards, a $10 Rosewill keyboard, and touchscreen keyboards, what experience do enthusiast grade keyboards offer over “merely functional” keyboards?
I imagine there’s some value to it. I’m aware of the popular Cherry MX switches (Brown are quieter, Blue are louder... and Red are also louder? Clear are good for LEDs I guess?) and that there’s many other companies (OUTEMU?) and in-house designs (like Razer) making different mechanical switches, and that they offer a more crisp “click” at the tip of your finger than the plastic bubble of a membrane keyboard. I also get that something colorful, whether by LED or colored keycaps, can bring aesthetic enjoyment and make the desktop have a certain...
Hey all The Skeleton here i've been talking with some users of geekhack and been seeing all of there amazing artisans and I have told them of getting more artisans on MD and they weren't exactly pleased they don't think artisans belong here.
But what do you think? Would you want some more artisans on Massdrop, they would of course have to be small drops but they would still be there at least.
Does anyone know of a brand that makes keyboards (or keycaps) to support a Hungarian keyboard layout? Is there any workaround for these weird foreign layouts if someone would like a decent keyboard?
Ah the ancient keyboard argument what keycap material is better ABS or PBT. lets run through what makes each of these plastics special
shiny (depending on the caps)
easily smudge able (depending on the quallity)
matte or semi matte
usually cannot smudge
Both PBT and ABS can have double-shot legends applied to them and both have been used in high quality sets.
Dasher and Dancer (ABS)
So who wins? Well I sure don't know but you probably do and I want your opinions so please post which plastic is better AND what set you love most made from that plastic. :3
Or if you like POM caps that's cool too.

Someone created a custom keycap for the Esc key which was translucent bright red with the word "Detonate" or a synonym to that word implanted into the key cap. It was making out as if the Esc key acted as a last ditch option for a situation that happened on the PC monitor.
Any plans to support custom brightness settings for ALT & CTRL Configurator?
Absolutely love the intuitive user interface for controlling custom LED color layouts for the the ALT keyboard but would love to be able to set a default brightness value on firmware boot. I dock my laptop and each time the power cycles to the keyboard it forgets my selected brightness and reverts to the standard which is generally far brighter than I would like.
