I like my pillow on the pad. Being 6'3" I would appreciate a bit more than 72". 78" would be a bit much, some happy medium. Currently using an Exped UL7 LW. 27" width would be totally acceptable. I bet those who actually sleep two in a two person tent are probably happy with the 20" width. I have noticed at the GGGs that a solid 25% if not 30% are over 6'.

JerkyKen@JerkyKen - I'm thinking something like 76" long and 27" wide would be a good size for *almost* everyone who wants something bigger than the normal 72x20. Thanks everyone for the input!
Next question: what about R-value? Currently we're using 60g insulation to achieve r-value of 4.4. We could move down to 50g or even 40g to save a bit of weight, though this would bring it down to 3-season use for most people. Acceptable trade-off? Discuss. (I'll post more data on this as my conversation with Klymit progresses).

DannyMilksover 25" will make it hard to fit in many multi-person tents and some solo tents. I think the insulation amount is perfect and reducing it is negligible weight advantage for what could be a significant reduction in performance, especially for ladies and/or quilt users. I'm sure Klymit would like to minimize SKUs like every other vendor, but maybe three widths would satisfy the market...20, 23-25, and 30? For the mass backpacking tent market I do think greater than 25" will see limited sales just because of typical tent floor and bivy sack dimensions but the car/family camping market might gobble it up as long as it isn't too fragile for those needs. Generally not an issue for tarpers.

StepbystepThanks for the input @Stepbystep . I think the 25-27" range is a good size for most people. We can't make a pad style for everybody, but we can certainly try to make the best pads that will please *almost* everybody.

DannyMilksIf it's 27" I'll have to pass...too wide for the shelter I use the most. Sad face. I'm willing to trim off the short side and probably will/would, but not the whole long edge. Go with what the market wants, though...only way to sell. :)

DannyMilksAlso, thank you for doing this. Exciting project to watch, incredible great new product and wow did you ever think so many would sell right away like they did!

DannyMilksIf taking it down to 3 season use would result in significant weight savings, I'd think that would be right for most everyone. A 25"x50"x3" insulated to r3 or so? 13 ozs? That'd be my fall LT E2E pad fer sure!
