Any interest in tower speakers?

more_vert
I've been watching the Audiophile community for a while, and have purchased a couple pairs of nice headphones, but I rarely see actual speakers come up, and when they do they're almost always small powered desktop or bookshelf speakers.
Is there any interest in some full towers here? Perhaps something along the lines of the SVS Ultras, Q Acoustics Concept 40 or 500s, Elac UF5 or Adante AF61, Infinity R263, B&W 702 S2, Ascend Acoustics Sierra Towers w/RAAL, or some other nice high quality tower speakers?

Always interested in upgrading. Although I prefer quality standmount, otherwise known as bookshelf speakers, along with a quality subwoofer.

We call them Floor Standers where I come from. I’d like to think that the newer generations of people into music will eventually come to appreciate the beauty of sitting in front of an imposing pair speakers with a few friends and just listening to a new album. My amplification and floor standers are all Linn. The cross overs are active. I’ve had it for years and it makes my hair stand on end.
While there are a number of systems that work quite well, I believe that the elements making up the listening environment cannot be overlooked. As to hardware, people tend to gravitate towards systems that are not flat in terms of frequency response. Because of this, the listening environment is important to take into consideration when choosing equipment. Numbers on a page don't tell the whole story.

Yes. JBL Studio 590's, 580's or even 530's. Impressive

Yes, interest in towers (and headphones). Currently playing ALR Entry 4 towers from the 1990's, (British sound German engineering) not very popular but oh boy, they rock. I use Naim Uniti 2 with which I recently tried new speakers but found nothing up to this level. Tried the Focal 948, B&W 603 and Q A Concept 500 , the latter were near to the ALR but not as visceral.

I really like the ELAC UniFi F5 towers that I have. Very linear and clear. But I am selling them because I don’t really have room for them as I have moved further up line with my main speakers. So they are for sale.

I have a swan X3ht. THX certified Powered 5.2 black piano lacquered system for sale. Were used at CES as demos. Still in original boxes never used at home , bought 2 systems and used the smaller one. MSRP 22,500. Looking for 5000. Also have the Original large cables that it uses. Will throw them in.

I just bought a new AVR (Yamaha A3080) and I agree with this. Even if it wasn't tower speakers, Atmos/Presensce speakers or satellites sell well I think. Same with accessories: swivel mounts, banana/spade plugs, cables, sound deadening material, speaker/sub stands, measuring equipment, etc. Even more receivers would be nice since they go on sale all the time some good deals could be had here. Same with more powered options for 2nd/3rd room setups. As much as I would like to see some nice towers, it's doubtful due to size and weight.
