I've noticed a rather lot of blind enthusiasm on these forums where people just drop a single link to an ASR 'review' without commentary as though Amir offers any authority on the subject.
Amir is an ex software engineer, 'retired' Microsoft money (EDIT, Amir has corrected me, he is not a software engineer, this is my bad, his background is linked in his sig on ASF); he larps as though he understands hardware but a quick trip off the DAC reservation shows his ignorance very quickly. For instance, here he is needing to be told by one of his forum members that he can simply add a balanced cord to his HD650 to test balanced lol: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/so-what-is-a-common-balanced-headphone-for-testing.4949/ Dude seriously thought he needed an entirely new pair of headphones! LMAO.
More fundamentally, he makes all sorts of commentary on spectrum shape at sub -110 dB levels, but offers no precision gauge in the form of repeated measurements...
The DROP CAN "a headphone amplifier capable of working with many different cans, but tailored to match DROP's Sennheiser HD 6xx in a very interesting way!
At the push of a button, its fully analogue EQ filter pushes the HD 6xx to the max.
Come and see us at CanJam NY! Test the DROP Sennheiser HD 6xx with and without the DROP CAN's 6xx tuning! Hear the difference.
You’ll not be disappointed. See you there."
An incredible challenge posted by Audeze official - will Dan, Sennheiser and Focal step up?
This is real. This isn't a hoax. Attached is a screenshot from the Audeze LCDi4's Amazon page. Transcribed below:
Buyer Question: How much do these headphones cost to manufacture? I'm curious what the markup is
Audeze's Response: No problem - just ask Sennheiser, Focal, HiFI Man, Beyer, and Mr. Speakers what their BOM costs are and send it to Audeze, and we'll post our information.
(Note from me - BOM = bill of materials)
You can see by the SELLER label this is the actual reply from Audeze official.
Audeze has since deleted the comment, but I was amazed to see someone both bold enough to ask this question, and Audeze being bold enough to reply. I screenshotted the comment not realizing they later deleted the reply, immortalizing it forever.
I think Dan of Mr. Speakers lurks Massdrop, and maybe others do too. What do you say? Can we get sign-offs from the major players to agree to post their production costs? Audeze has issued this incredible challenge, who will step up?
On a musical note, anyone who was at the age of reason from 1963 through to the present, and especially those who got Dylan from the very beginning, should strap on their best set of cans and listen to his most recent (surprise) release--it is a mindblower.
Best pre-amp & active speakers for Pro-ject Debut Carbon?
I am just getting into vinyl and have seen a lot of positive reviews on the pro-ject dc turntable. I was thinking about purchasing one, but didn’t know which pre-amp and active speakers I should pair with it. I am opting for active speakers to save money and space. Maybe once I get more into it, I can invest more into a stereo, etc. I am trying to find the best budget options for now as I know the pro-ject dc turntable is relatively easy to upgrade down the line.
any suggestions are welcome!
What can I use to move music over wifi to my stereo?
Afternoon guys, hope all is well in audio land.
I'm having a heck of a time with a system here. What if you have a big drive full of music but no easy way to get that music to your stereo?
Right now I have a tv with a couple of HDMI inputs. I have a universal disc player +AV receiver connected to one HDMI, and an Apple TV 4K connected to the other. I'm running a Sonos theater system off the digital output from the tv. I have the 2 channel outputs on the AV receiver connected to a stereo amp, which runs a decent pair of speakers. All of my movies and digital music are on a network drive attached to my wifi router. The stereo setup is for my LPs and CD/DVD/Blu, and the Sonos handles all the stuff I stream over wifi. It works pretty good.
Sonos sounds good, but not great. Its real value lies in how easy it is to use. As my stereo system evolves (I have some fantastic analog equipment now) and I go further down that rabbit hole, I now see that my enormous library of digital music...
Connect TV to a wired headphone using BT receiver?
Hi all, Is it possible to connect a bluetooth receiver to my TV (TV has bluetooth). Then connect my wired headphone to the receiver so i can watch TV. I understand normally you'd use a bluetooth transmitter to connect to your TV and your bluetooth headphone but I would like to know if it's possible to use my wired headphone to connect to my TV using a bluetooth receiver. many thanks!
So I was planning to ask for a pair of hd58x for my birthday. However, I have read about a lot of people getting screwed over at the canadian border and their orders costing much more than they thought. So this got me wondering, does the 15$ drop charges for shipping to Canada pay for the border handling and shipping into Canada? Or will it end up costing even more?
P.S.: If you have any other open back headphone suggestions that are good for gaming that I could get a good price on in Canada, let me know!
So my headset stop working all of the sudden but the hearing works fine but is just my mic stopped working I tried doing the windows fix where you go to privacy and mic settings but it doesn't work. did anyone have this problem and if so do you have a fix?
