THX 888?

more_vert
Nothing wrong with the 789 at all, just wondering if the current drop THX amp will get an upgrade.

I would also be interested in a THX AAA 888.
The 789 already borrows some of the capabilities of the THX-888 module... this is why the output power is closer to that of the 888 instead of the 788. This is also true of the Monolith 887. The SMSL asserts 888 technology but it's cost indicates it too is borrowing tech from the 888 and employing it with the 788 module. Last I knew the only full 888 module products were Benchmark AHB2 and the HPA-4, this may have changed as I've not dug into things for a while. Spec sheet for the different modules: https://www.thx.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/THX-AAA-One-Sheet-9.23.19.pdf Edit: Based on a quick search, it appears the SMSL is using 888 modules with a lower power PS than the HPA-4. Power output for the SMSL is almost spot on with the specs for the 888 module.

ElectronicVicesI still think the should update with the THX 888 for those who have not go for the THX 789 yet. Also, while they are at it, they should go back with the massdrop design and change the word to Drop.
