What is a good knife under $30

more_vert
I would like to get a knife but it will have to be cheap. I'm kinda new to the knife game, so I would like some suggestions.

Kershaw with spring assist you will love it. Cheap and quality. Crkt has similar quality with other options and the same price. Kershaw has the most options for price. If you want something that looks like a $300 knife and has no bannering or labels and has a thickkkk reputation, then go with the Civivi praxis for $40 and you will have a flipper, with bearings, gold lining, fit and finish better than any other company aside form we or Kizer, and you will have upgraded steel so that when you start to realize how useful a knife is, you can USE IT!!

Depending on your intended uses, a really cheap option is one of the Opinel knives. Can be had for $12 - $18, are good slicers and easy to sharpen. Not great if really wet work as the wood will swell sometimes or for hard use. But if you're just opening letters or boxes, cutting minor stuff they work well and you're not out much money. Have a cool retro look if you're into that.

you can get a Ruike P801-SF for around 40 euro's/dollars or you can get a victorinox spartan for around 20 to 30 euro's/dollars.

Buck. US made. 420 stainless steel (used on most of their knives) is easy to sharpen and Buck heat treats it properly. Lifetime warranty. You might not hit the $30 target, but you can get close.

I'll second Kershaw and throw in CRKT - lots of options as well. My kids and I all have both those brands that we carry all the time.

Maybe I could suggest you a Tangram Amarillo? I heard a great deal about that one, really, even if I'm not much into flippers. But if you want something bigger, the Byrd Cara Cara 2 just might fit in your price range, and it's a great budget Spyderco.

The kershaw fraxion is pretty nice. I have had it for a while and its held up nicely. Its manual flipper is butter smooth and it has nice centering. Highly recommended for a beginner. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XR9QLH8/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER ). Goes around right under $30
Tough when you're new to make a recommendation since so much is subjective! Most USA made budget Kershaw's are nice but might not be cheap enough. Or see if you can find a better import like the Kershaw Injection.
The classic Swiss Army Knife from Victorinox is a good pick but is very traditional.
There are also a lot of nice knives in CRKT's lineup and are are relatively affordable.

ModernNeanderthalNone of the budget Kershaw's are USA made, definitely not for under $30. FYI.

The Kershaw Entropy being dropped right now is probably a good choice too. It is a good size for edc and has a deep carry clip. 8Cr13 is easy to maintain as well.
