Hi Guys, Not sure this question came up before I wanted to ask. If I have a tube pre-amp as buffer -> RCA -> THX AAA 789. Will my balanced 4pins XLR and both SE 1/4 and 3.5mm jacks all have sound? if so, will benefit 4pins XLR have better power? Cheers, Billy

Yes, both headphone outputs on the front will have sound regardless of which input you use (RCA or XLR) on the back. I have one source connected to the RCA input and another to the XLR - both headphone connections work for either input.

I’ll give you my answer. I’ve been wondering if using the balanced cable with my headphones would actually improve the sound or just make it louder. I got a very good quality cable and sure enough the sound quality increased. The amp seems to have more authority and everything else that I can hear has more definition. So my recommendation is if you have the money it’s worth getting a balanced cable for your headphones to run them on your THX AAA 789. Now I’m wondering if getting a balanced DAC will make enough difference to justify the cost. I know I won’t be needing one any time soon. I had to decide which headphone to add balanced cable to, my Focal Elear’s or my HD6XX’s. I’ll probably get a balanced cable for the HD6XX’s as well.
