I could never pick all time favorites. For me it’s all about time and place. So instead, I’ll pick the five most played for each for the past six months. Sorry, I’ve never been good at paring down lists. Short attention span I guess...
This is probably the album that has had the most impact on me though:
Kool and the Gang // Wild and Peaceful
November: Miles Davis / Live-evil Donald Byrd / Black Byrd Axiom Funk / Funkcronomicon Ali Farka Touré & Ry Cooder / Talking Timbuktu Alpha Blondie (and the wailers) / Jerusalem
December: Young Marble Giants / Colossal Youth Ry Cooder / Boomers Story Young fresh fellows / The Men Who Loved Music Dr John // Gris Gris John Scofield / Guitarra de Jazz January: Little Feet / Dixie chicken John Coltrane / a love supreme Sun Ra // Space is the Place Funkadelic / Maggot Brain Boomtown rats / Mondo Bongo February: Nick cave // Murder ballads Herbie Hancock / Mwandishi Michael Jackson / Off the Wall Blaze Foley / Oval room King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizards / Quarters
March: Bill Frisell // Disfarmer Bjork / Debut Frank Zappa // Zoot allures Steve Earle - Townes Van Zandt - Guy Clark ‎– Together At The Bluebird Café Dandy Warhols / Come Down

Adventures in cable cutting
I've recently went through the process of removing the attached cables on my Sony MDR-V6/7506 headphones and replacing them with female audio jack. Once I got the hang of what to solder, the process was fairly straight forward. I needed to use a Dremel tool to widen the hole for the audio jack. I got some minor scratching around the area but I think it came out looking pretty good. [image] In addition to being able to use any audio aux cable to attach the headphones, I found that a Bluetooth transceiver works just as well. Once synced up to my phone, the transceiver effectively makes the headphones wireless. The transceiver even has a microphone so I can answer calls on my phone. [image] I was wondering if anyone else out there has worked on a similar type project. I'd be curious to know what headphones you detached the cable from and how much effort was involved. I'd be interested in hearing both successes and failures alike. The next pair of headphones I plan on attempting this...

KEF LS50 Drop....Anyone else drooling at this prospect?
For those of you who may not know, the KEF LS50's are one of the best rated desktop/monitor speaker around. They have received constant praise from sites like "what hi-fi", cnet, sound and vision, stereophile magazine, etc etc. almost always achieving a near perfect score and receiving multiple 2016 product of the year awards. They are normally $1500 for a pair, and come in some pretty awesome color schemes like black and gold, titanium grey and blue, white and blue, and red and gray I believe. I've been saving up for these for a few weeks now, and I would love to see them offered in a drop! Below are some links about these gorgeous works of art. http://www.stereophile.com/content/kef-ls50-anniversary-model-loudspeaker http://www.whathifi.com/kef/ls50/review http://www.digitalaudioreview.net/2016/12/kef-ls50-wireless-review-dars-product-of-the-year-2016/ https://www.avforums.com/review/kef-ls50-speaker-review.11965 [image] [image] [image] [image]

Cult of Audio 'Science' Review - Amir's Faithful
I've noticed a rather lot of blind enthusiasm on these forums where people just drop a single link to an ASR 'review' without commentary as though Amir offers any authority on the subject. Amir is an ex software engineer, 'retired' Microsoft money (EDIT, Amir has corrected me, he is not a software engineer, this is my bad, his background is linked in his sig on ASF); he larps as though he understands hardware but a quick trip off the DAC reservation shows his ignorance very quickly. For instance, here he is needing to be told by one of his forum members that he can simply add a balanced cord to his HD650 to test balanced lol: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/so-what-is-a-common-balanced-headphone-for-testing.4949/ Dude seriously thought he needed an entirely new pair of headphones! LMAO. More fundamentally, he makes all sorts of commentary on spectrum shape at sub -110 dB levels, but offers no precision gauge in the form of repeated measurements...

Denom or Beyerdinamic?
I'm looking for a pair of fun (not flat sounding) closed back headphones between these prices: 100-150€/108-165$ aprox. On the one hand, I've got this two options in mind: Denom AH-D1200 and Beyerdinamic 770 pro. Could someone tell me his/her impresiones about them? Because I cannot test them, and I'm not sure which one is better and if there are better options in that interval. On the other hand, 80ohms beyer option could be worth? I mean, I've got a Focusrite Scarlet Solo 2gn, is that enough to move it? Thanks for the info and comments! 😄

Varmilo Problems on Mac
I bought the Varmilo Dragon Phoenix VA104M Mechanical Keyboard and initially it worked great. I'm on a Mac, so I got some mac modifier keys at maxkeyboard.com. The only problem with them is that the LED backlights shine brighter through these than the other keys. I may try to attenuate the keys somehow. Any suggestions? Unfortunately I've run into a bigger problem: I used the traditional method of remapping the modifier keys to the mac layout (through the Keyboard panel in the system preferences) and all was fine for about 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden certain keys seemed to remap themselves. I reset the Keyboard mapping in the system preferences and this is what I'm left with (using Windows ID's): Left Control is mapped to Caps Lock Right Control is fine Caps Lock is mapped to both Control keys Both ALT keys are mapped to nothing, unresponsive Both "Window" keys are mapped to the ALT keys I installed Karabiner - Elements and was able to remap the Caps Lock and Control keys to...
