Does your caps have visual blemishes?
more_vert
Hey guys, I'm just a average dude who just got into premium keyboards I wondered if you could shed some light on this. I just received the CTRL yesterday from Amazon and found that on some of key caps, directly on the typeface were some visual blemishes shining through. I first thought it was dirt or something, this couldn't happen on a premium keyboard, right? So I pulled the cap, flipped it, and found the caps had a piece of translucent material wedged all the way inside the cap, and in those caps affected by this blemish, there seem to be a cut-out on the said translucent material, (pls see photo) of the D and F key. D is with hole, F is fine. My first thought was perhaps these caps may have been attached to sprues during the molding phase, like model kit parts attached to their sprues, and when detaching these molds is done poorly, a piece of that translucent mat came off as well hence creating a gaping hole on some of the caps, like not using flush cutters to cut kit parts but instead, turning and twisting the parts off. And with that I would I would really appreciate your thoughts on the following: 1) is this to be expected of all key caps from Drop's own production, perhaps all other brand of key caps? 2) is this a QC issue in your opinion? 3) is it too much to ask Drop to replace the key caps that have this defect? 4) would you be satisfied if Drop support responded to you to take it up with Amazon when Amazon is not responsible of how the product turned out? Thanks

This isn't regularly expected on our keyboards, so if it's a really big issue to you, I think it's worth a shot taking up with our customer support team! I think they'll be able to figure out a solution that works for you. https://drop.com/support

Maybe they're at the end of their life

@erickong Hi, cheers mate for providing the insightful reading materials, a good lesson learned on my part. Whether the keycap molds were poorly made doesn't exclude the fact that someone had to put it on and pass it down to QC to give it the go ahead. Time will tell whoever is letting the ball "drop".
