What portable DAC/Amp are you rocking these headphones with? I have a FiiO Q1 Mark 2, would this be a good pair?

I just ordered the headphones; I'm planning to use them with my trusty old Fiio X3 mk2; generally, look for the amp specifications, specifically, its power @ 32ohms (the headphones' impedance); mine is around 200mW which is quite generous. "Generally", The more powerful the amp, the better the sound quality and dynamic range you get across all types of music (including low-quality MP3). You can check newer Fiio amps on their website; just keep in mind the specs since some newer models are not as powerful as the older models.

I have not being using an amp. I have them plugged in to my MacBook Air and in all honestly with High Rez AIFF files or Flac files they don’t need an amp. I can’t turn them up to loud or it will blow my ears. The highest I have gotten them is about 3/4 volume and that was starting to hurt one ear. These things don’t need an amp. Maybe with a phone it would help a little but I’d get them first and test them for your device then decide if you need an amp at all. A crappy audio source would benefit from amp, like a you tube source or Spotify but may make it to loud and distorted. I purchased these for home use and with computer, and they are unbelievably fantastic. I use Beyer Dynamic and in ears from 1 More and Soundcore for portable use. These are all I need for home. And yes have a cable on its way from Hart as they have exactly what you need. I am waiting to post pictures of my 177X’s once my custom cable arrives. I have had the cans for a month now roughly and the leather pads are my favourite. I run them when I sleep at night and throughout the day when not using them. The sound is great already but getting better as things loosen up. These are my best headphone purchase at this price point ever for what they do. Hartaudiocables.com

Stev11I hear a lot of good things with Mac when it comes to sound. I listen on a Dell or iPhone so.... I really benefit from the dac/amp combo. I reallly appreciate the time you took to share your insights with me. Cheers!
