I currently EDC an Olight S1R Baton, would this actually be a meaningful upgrade? I love the little guy for it's ridiculously low profile and ability to really pump out light when needed. Rechargeable is also an awesome plus, considering how bloody pricey specialty cells can be.

DanielByrneI also edc an s1r so this doesn’t look like much of an upgrade. However, I also picked up the nextorch e51 and even though it’s only supposed to have 1000 lumens, it is about 50% Brighter than the s1r on turbo and the focus is better. that said, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the ta15 matches or outperforms the s1r. Just a matter of compactness for me.

DanielByrneI think it is a different enough light that I wouldn't really compare it to the S1R (I EDC the S1 as well). The Nextorch looks closer in size class to something like the PD35 (see the last picture on their site http://www.nextorch.com/en/index.php/products/145 of the light in a gloved hand). For me. the TA15 would be more along the lines of a work / outdoor light. Nextorch markets it alongside the TA30 as a backup light to the more robust primary, which does seem like a good categorization for it.

FatinahatLumens are funny. There is an exact formula out there that I can't quote off the top of my head. But extremely dumbed down.
500 lumens is not twice as bright as 1000 lumens, and 2000 lumens may not seem much brighter than 1000 lumens. There is a weird diminishing return curve on lumens. Maybe somebody can step in and help me, but as I understand when you start getting into the higher lumens the difference becomes less noticable.
