Balanced is overkill if you’re strapped for cash.

AnentThere are some decent low-price options that aren't fully balanced but which have a balance buffer output, for those who are curious but don't want to spend a lot of money. Walnut F1 is like $30, Fiio Q1MKII is $100.
And there are DAPs that, while not cheap ($250-300), offer fully balanced designs for not much more money than other DAPs with similar features.

AnentNot if you are running long distances or its a requirement that you have no noise added to your signal. Eg mixing, mastering, older PA systems, microphones ect. Balanced audio was intended for a professional market.

AnentFor personal use, yes; for long runs and professional use, it's pretty useful. It really depends on the use-case
