Best Budget Keyboard for Carpal Tunnel

more_vert
Between an injury aggravated at work and Minecraft's lack of a built in shift lock button, the doctors think I have carpal tunnel problems now. In either case, my current mechanical board, a Blackwidow ultimate 2016 edition with it's razer green switches, are a bit too hard to press now, and sometimes even painful to use. Im looking for a good tenkeyless hot swappable that comes with Cherry MX Red or something similar. I've had problems with breaking expensive keyboards in the past, so cheaper is better, but it probably rules out most Drop keyboards unless they've got something of a budget model that matches my needs that I haven't spotted. Still, I'd like a recommendation on the cheapest Drop keyboard. Beyond Hot Swappable and Tenkeyless, I don't need detachable cables, but I prefer USB C if it was an option. I also don't need wireless but if a keyboard supported both, I would not object. I'd say the most I can maybe make myself part with is 150 bucks, but given my tendency to wreck most keyboards, something around 50 bucks is my spending goal. As long as it's as solid as my plastic blackwidow I don't care about name branding, lighting, or macro software. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

You might want to start looking to the split keyboards. Check out the mechanical keyboard subreddit. Look into the GMMK TKL Are you comfortable building your own board? https://keeb.io/

Novelkeys is like my favorite keyboard shop. Gateron reds should be like 24 cents a piece there in packs of 10

erickongDarnit, the TKL is using micro USB and Im trying to consolidate to type C. I might have to wait and see if they do a type c version. Their prices for Gateron red switches comes to about .29 cents each when bought with the keyboard in a pack of 120. Not too bad I suppose. The keyboard comes up at least ten bucks more when customized to get something other than browns though.

If you have to contend with carpel tunes, then you might want to look at the Mistel Barocco split keyboards. Having the ability to move the two halves where ever I want on my desk is so great. That means I can change posture if I do start to feel strain somewhere. Being able to use it tented has saved my wrists too. It's not endgame level ergonomic, but I like that I can put the board back together when I want to use if for shortcuts in photoshop etc.

NinjapleaseJust looked that one up, it looks like a good option to consider although I can't find the pricing on it or a shop carrying it. Ill keep that one in mind when I'm looking at my options.
