I have been looking for a quilt pattern for over a year - I'm just taking a chance posting this here. I have called it a number of names and haven't found anything even close - I know it exists - I saw it on a quilting board and wasn't smart enough to mark the page, so.... Disappearing star, disintegrating star, mariner's star, compass star, compass rose. It was a queen sized quilt where the 'star' is done in shades from black through the grays and into browns and golds. It's a postage stamp pattern meaning that all the pieces are about 2 inches square before sewing. The design starts as nearly complete on the bottom and middle right side and spans up to the top left and middle left side. It reminded me of a dandelion when the winds blow its seeds everywhere. I'm almost too embarrassed to post this. Almost.

propswifeYESSSSS OMG Yes! The main difference that I recall is that it was all triangles as opposed to the shape shown in the picture. But, WOW! Lone star quilt. Sheesh, I had just about every other kind of 'star' listed, huh? Thank you so very much. If nothing else, I have a much better jumping off point. Thank you thank you thank thank you thank you thank you thank you !
Oh, did I forget to say T H A N K Y O U?
i wasn't insane when I posted the question; I may be now.

dottibI know there is something else out there. What I am thinking of started in the corner so that you only saw about 3/4 of the star as it was exploding outward. I swear I bookmarked it, but I sure can't find it now. You can always make the diamonds out of HST.
