It took me a while to actually learn how to read quilting patterns, but if you take it slowly and read the patterns completely through at least once before beginning, I find it all goes much easier. I made my first bargello (Diamonds Jubilee pattern) and had to read it through three times before it made sense! So, for me, reading over everything before even gathering materials, is key to success.

I sometimes have to read the pattern more then once before it finally sinks into my thick skull
