Are there any competitors to Think Tank for carry-on/check in luggages that made to be on a plane? I'm looking for something that can hold a 400/2.8 and of course the rest of my small lens.
If you've never used a 400/2.8 or it's longer siblings or even know/see how big it is, I do recommend you look it up before posting anything.

lastzeroI wouldn't check any photo equipment that isn't a hard case and locked. As far as good carry on bags, the Everyday Camera Bag is great, but very pricey. I've got a ThinkTank Perception. The full-size variety. It's great because it fits my camera, 2-3 lenses, charger, batteries, laptop, tablet, sweatshirt, and a water bottle. Can't recommend the Perception enough.
I'm fairly certain a 400/2.8 would fit, but then you'd be super cramped with more than 1 additional small lens.

s2kalldayYeah all my stuff I fly is TSA locked and padded, just in case. I lose storage space but rather that than ruined gear.
I haven't looked at ECB but guess I'll start. ThinkTanks are amazing, I have a few bags like the TurnStyle, but figured I might try looking elsewhere for other brands just to compare.

lastzeroI use a Everyday Backpack 20L to fit my camera body and all the lenses I'm taking with me, everything else just goes in a hard-sided regular carry-on or checked bag. If you have to check stuff like lenses, I'd go with something like a Pelican case or one of the alternate brands that are around these days, or get a bunch of those padded ape-cases (or whatever brand) to put everything in?

KasmirHow do you like the 20L Peak Design Everyday Backpack? I've been eyeing that backpack and thinking about using it as a travel backpack to carry light weight stuff such as my camera, goPro etc. How does it fit you? I'm 5'5 about 150 so i'm wondering if 20L will be too big or not.

kentobeanzI love it so, so much. It's pretty much the only bag I carry anymore. I stopped being able to use messenger-style bags due to back pain issues, and it took me quite a long time to take the plunge and spend that much on a bag (cause wow, they're expensive), but it's been totally worth it. I can fit a 6D, 24-105 f4, 70-200 f2.8, 100mm f2.8 macro, and 85 f1.8 in there, and the ability to quickly customize where the dividers are means it doesn't matter which lens is attached, everything will fit, with a little extra room for a light jacket or something in the top if needed. It gets pretty heavy with all of that in there, but it's still surprisingly comfy. I'm 6' even, and about 190, and while I wouldn't say it's a bit small on me, it's fairly slim, so I think you'd be fine for fit.
My only real complaint about the thing is that the backpack shoulder straps slip slowly over the course of the day if you have much weight in the bag. Not a huge deal, it's very easy to re-adjust them, but worth noting, in case that's something that'd drive you up the wall.
Also, travel wise, it easily fits under seats on airplanes, and has one of those luggage handle passthrough things, which is super handy if you spend lots of time in airports.

KasmirOk thanks for the reply! Yes they are definitely pricey but I love the look and design of it. I might end up pulling the trigger soon!
