Atti 389 Gentleman's Folder Issues and Customer Service

more_vert
Folks;
I wanted to let you know of an issue with the Atti 389 Gentleman's folder .
I purchased a Maserin Atti 389 Gentleman's folder with green burlwood scales, which I received on February 13, 2018. I placed it in its carrying pouch, and have taken it out 4 times. On March 23, 2018 (39 days after receipt), I removed the knife from the pouch and discovered one of the scales was loose. Upon inspection, I found that one of the screws was missing. I went to the discussion page and read that a couple of other folks have the same issue. I contacted Massdrop customer service and received the following response:
"It looks like this drop does not include a manufacturer's warranty, unfortunately. For products that do not have an included manufacturer's warranty, members have 30 days from the date of delivery to report an issue. After reviewing your transaction, it appears that the time-frame for reporting an issue has passed, which means we are not able to provide a replacement or facilitate a return. "
For your awareness:
1: If you currently own this knife, tighten the fasteners, or even better Loctite them. The three remaining screws on my knife were loose. Note: I inspected the knife when I received it and the fasteners and scales appeared to be solidly in place.
2: Nowhere on the webpage for this knife does it identify the lack of a Maserin warranty. This is important and should be readily disclosed to the community - especially if you read the return policy on manufacturer's warranty vice the Massdrop 30-day warranty. I had believed that Maserin was a quality Italian knife manufacturer that would stand by their product, I would not have made this purchase without a warranty or if it had been offered by some of the other knife manufacturers.
3: Massdrop is inflexible with their return policy - c'mon 39 days for a brand new knife hardly removed from it's pouch?!?! Think seriously about your purchases folks - especially when making higher dollar items than this $73 purchase.
4: Even before this issue, I believed this knife was not worth the $73 that I paid, but I like this knife and would prefer to keep it. If Massdrop truly believes in good customer service, the very least they should do is contact Maserin to find out what the fastener size is and post it so that everyone who made this drop does not end up with a pretty knickknack like I currently have or strips out the hole putting an incorrect fastener into the hole.
5: I was unable to identify on the website when Massdrop starts their countdown for the 30 day warranty. Is it when the drop closes (probably not), when it is shipped (likely), or when it arrives (good customer service)?
6: This may be my last Massdrop purchase - it's just too risky to throw money away on bad products.
