re-issue the AKG K1000 Earspeakers

more_vert
Hi All, I know that this product is no longer in production but perhaps enough interest in a DROP might stir AKG (or whoever owns them now) to re-issue the AKG K1000 Earspeakers at a reasonable price?

Probably not. The K1000 is a dated design, most of the OG designers left AKG and went to MySphere. The K1000 also really sucks next to the Raal SR1a; takes a bass dump at 90 Hz, is honky and shouty. I'm really not sure what the big deal is with these; the newer stuff is so much better than the K1000 (granted, for its time it was novel and it's pretty cool).
1: Samsung owns the Harmon group now, and Harmon owned AKG 2: Most of the employees who designed the K1000 (in 1989) are either retired or left AKG, and they made their own product in recent years, the MySphere: https://mysphere.at/ 3: The price was reasonable... it was a really expensive headphone to design, construct, and they didn’t sell in high enough volume to sell at a low price.

EvshrugYeh, bought a new pair early 2000s for about 750 U S powered with a EL84 pp power amp direct via speaker output, sadly sold it off, you're right Ev back then 750 was nothing to sneeze at but reasonable by today's standards

I would love to give the K1000s a listen if I had the chance. Just curious, have you given the likes of the Raal Requisites and My Spheres a look?

Yes, was the RAAL based drop that prompted me to reminisce about the AKG K1000s
