Recommandations for Open-Back Headphones

more_vert
Lately, I've been looking for a pair of nice open-back headphones with some requirements:
  • Price lower than 200 dollars, even 150 or 100 if possible
  • Mobile-friendly - I want to use them with my phone and laptop without investing extra money in an amp and dac.
  • Preferebly over-ear, but comfortable on-ears are fine too.
  • I'm planning on using them only at home (I have earbuds for commuting) for music, movies, videos and a bit of gaming, and I listen for most genres, but mostly rock (from queen to a7x).
  • Open back because I did some research, and even though I never tried one, they seem to fit my needs (use at home) and I'd like to try a pair
In my research and came across headphones like the hd598, Grado sr60/80/125e (even though they are on ear), k7xx, dt990s and more, and since I'm new in this subject, I'm very confused (so many headphones).
Do you have any recommendations for me on this topic?

Just to add to that. The current Massdrop HifiMan offering HE350 (Since theHE4xx isn't available anymore) is a great bang for the buck.
I just got mine and I've so far played them mostly off my mobile phone. Great sound for a fairly low price. But then my bar might be set low due to me not having much high end stuff to compare with.

HE4XX. Decent enough without an amp, for the K7XX, that would be a must

I have both the Massdrop Sennheiser HD6xx and HiFiman HE4xx. Both can be driven off of a portable, the HD 6xx less so. I would go for the HE4xx because of that. However, to get the best out of them you really do ultimately need an AMP/DAC. I currently use and AudioQuest Dragonfly Black but am eventually going to invest in a desktop AMP/DAC. Just don't know which one yet.
