Should I upgrade my dac x6?

more_vert
I just got a pair of 6xx and I have a dac x6 to pair it with and I want to get the most out of my headphones without spending to much money at sub 200 dollar range or am I fine with my dac x6 and I should leave my audio setup alone?

I like the question. I’m curious as well. Jumping up from the $60 FX Audio X6, seems to be at $230. At $230 you might choose Schiit modi/Magni or Topping E30/JDS Atom. Maybe E30/Magni?

Also the topping mx3 would b cheaper regardless because it’s 130 if I was to buy retail

Buy a Schiit Fulla 3 and call it a day.

Do you use a Fulla 3? 6xx like OP? What range of the volume knob do you set it for normal listening and rocking out? im leaning toward modi/Magni but it’s more than double the price of Fulla 3. I may have to get both...

I have a Fulla 2 that I use with a laptop at the office. Plenty of usable volume, but I listen at 70 dB SPL average, so I don't turn the knob much. But rest assured you can blow up your HD 6XX (which I have). I don't remember what setting I put the Fulla 2 at because, well, I haven't used it in some months "for some reason." Headphone rig at home is much more expensive to say the least. The Modi 3 and Magni 3+ is a definite step up if you can swing it. But it sounds like budget is tight; my advice is seriously Fulla 3 and use the extra $100 to buy your family groceries.
