Don’t use a y-splitter. There’s risk of interference and amplitude drop. If you’re going for a true A/B comparison, grab a sescom switch. They make the for all types of I/O.

I also would advise against using a mixer as it will add quite a number of variables into your signal before it goes to your headphone amp. If you need simultaneous play, get an active audio splitter.

What is an active audio splitter? Would that just be a headphone amp with multiple headphone outputs?

It’s used in studios to multiply audio signal without changing any of its characteristics. Also known as a mult. Anthough actual studio multiplyers have individual gain controls, active splitters don’t. The problem with simple y-splitters is attenuation/loss of amplitude, specially if you’re splitting more than two ways. This would be fine if the attenuation is flat, but it usually affects high frequencies more and for the most part, erratic; dependent on the cable impedance. Active splitters make sure you don’t have to worry about that as long as you use all the same cables in the output end.
Additional: I suppose a headphone amp with multiple outputs will work but amps typically color the signal and well, amplify it. You can imagine what that will do to the noise floor if you’re coming out of an amp and into another amp. Not to mention the multiple output usually aren’t equal (ie. RCA-1 may be line-out / RCA-2 may be a pre-out). Active splitters are the best bet.
PS. studio rack multiplyers/splitters are expensive, but you can find some consumer ones that will do the job. If you’re looking for RCA active splitters, be careful to make sure it’s for audio. Although, video RCA active splitters will work, they typically don’t have the same signal tolerances as audio equipment. They’re a little more lax on signal quality.

Do you have any examples, I am trying to find what you are talking about here and am not finding one. So with an active splitter, I would be able to listen to both amps at the same time?

Sorry for the late response. I was on the way to work. So a lot of the studio mults use balanced XLR or patch cables. The only one I've seen to use RCA that's not for video is this unit:
RDL EZADA4 - It has 4 outputs and a uniform gain controller.

How would this splitter change the signal coming from the Dac? Looking at the specs, it has its own SNR and Crosstalk values. The dac id pair with it is the Topping D50.

It will affect the signal in a neutral fashion. There will be no coloration, just a normalization of the amplitude which enables a controlled and accurate multiplication of the output signal to the 4 RCA outputs. The crosstalk spec is just there to show that there is virtually no crosstalk at -80db. What you get is a clean signal in all 4 of the outputs, with no coloration, and normalized with gain (not to be confused with volume) -- It's an active splitter so it will have its own SNR.
Nominal spec for crosstalk in most applications is -30db. (-80db is basically overkill, but that's a good thing)

Thanks for the info! besides this component, I also see this one: Rolls DA134 4-Channel Distribution Amplifier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BYNGUME/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_65fbBbFGW2C9Q
Between your recommendation and the linked item, which one do you think is better? They have similar specs...

I wanted to recommend that one, but I didn't like that each output had its own control (also note that the control is volume not gain / they may have mislabeled it). If the idea is to have simultaneous copies of the same signal, like the original request, I would advise against it. But, if you need the flexibility of controlling each output independently then that definitely will work. Like if you needed to go out into a pre-amp, you would probably turn the gain down (although that signal flow could introduce more noise)

I appreciate the feedback. I'll place an order for your 1st recommendation now. Thanks again!

Drop + THX Panda -- Bluetooth Audio Clipping Whenever Resumed from a Pause of More than 2 Seconds
I don't have much experience with Bluetooth headphones and figured I'd ask here to help set my expectations a bit. I just bought some Drop + THX Panda headphones. They're well reviewed for sound quality and supporting higher-end audio codecs, some of which Macs support (eg: aptX) and some of which they don't (eg: LDAC). Anywho, upon unboxing them and pairing them to my 2020 iMac running Big Sur, I noticed that audio over bluetooth sounds totally fine until it's been paused for more than 2 seconds. When I unpause, it almost feels as if maybe the headphones are coming out of some standby or low-power mode and are rushing to start a new bit stream. The sound is clipped / distorted for a second or two until it "catches up". This is particularly annoying for things like notifications and other sound effects which, by nature, are essentially really short audio clips. I can't find anything online explaining if this is normal behavior or just a shortcoming of bluetooth or these specific...

DAC/Amp Combo for MASSDROP X SENNHEISER HD 6XX HEADPHONES
Hi! I am seriously considering buying the HD 6xx's, and I'm very new to advanced audio. I was wondering what is the best DAC/Amp combo for these headphones around $100. Thanks in advance! Edit: Would FiiO E10K work?
