Earbuds with long cord
more_vert
I am 6'6" tall and find that most ear buds do not have a long enough cord. Are there any out there that come with a standard extra long cable? I use buds that have an inline mic, and right now I am using the inexpensive first harmonic IEB6 and the cord is about 6" to short. Any suggestions?

Sennheiser Momentum In-Ears have a pretty long cord. 1.3 meters or ~4.2 ft. Haven't bought them myself though. I've got the Beyerdynamic DX160IE which has a removable cord and comes with multiple lengths options out of the box.

I'm 6'2, and find that the stock cable on my Shures is plenty long enough, there's usually a short loop of extra cable coming out of the bottom of my jacket, in fact.
Failing that- just choose some IEMs that you like, which have removable cables that are popular enough to also be made by third parties. You can get some nice blingy cables hand-made at any length you like, so you're guaranteed to get a length that suits you.
In Europe, someone like Forza Audioworks would be a great choice. Given that you use inches and are called "Thad", I'm guessing you're in the USA, though (detective skills!) - so you'll have to look around for yourself, if you want someone similar.
Hope that helps.

I haven't used them personally, so can't vouch, but might be worth investigating.

The only in-ears I have with an extra long cord are my Sony MDR-7550's but those aren't really "out and about" IEM's as they have pretty decent sized vents on them. I second the others opinions on an extension cable, my Triple-Fi 10's came with one that is about 6-8". If you are using the Mic function make sure you get an extension that is labeled TRRS, not just TRS.

Could always try an extension cable. In fact many of the splitters I've seen are roughly 6" Monoprice doesn't have a whole lot of options, but defintely inexpensive enough to give it a try: http://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=102&cp_id=10218
