I think in the end analysis, it will be streaming in high resolution for ninety-something percent of the market. Get on a group “family” plan and you can prevent streaming conflicts in heavy use, by downloading the music that you do most commonly listen to, locally. Not third world, live in NY, doi’n Amazon UHD, for off-line use Tidal still allows down loaded play. Beyond that, for your music that — you will listen to forever — (beyond the life of a streaming service;) using the time between planning how you may setup things a little differently, to emphasize the Oboe solo, say,, or you just want some bass slam,, go and get a FLAC 24/192 & DSD 5.6 from a reputable source {very important} where you have the source and master known; such as Acoustic Sounds: https://store.acousticsounds.com/cat/365/Digital_Download

Thanks for the recommendation about going for a reputable source. Amazon HD and Tidal are not available in India. It would be be great if this site (acousticsounds) allowed singles' digital downloads. If not at 1/nth the cost per song (where n=total no. of songs in the album), at least at a reasonable cost that is a win-win for the seller and buyer. Just my thought. It's a lifelong investment, I agree. Thanks again for a different perspective. Edit - To add, one great thing about these sites is that they regularly have 15 to 20% discounts, which certainly helps.

You will be seeing more a la carte offerings coming out soon in ownership options. For indie stuff you can sample the best by trying directly recorded high def., looking at places like Blue Coast: https://bluecoastmusic.com/

Thanks. I am sure there are some hidden gems here. I stumbled upon Bhopal's Flowers in bandcamp. They have done a cover on 'I feel free' by Cream, and originals that are so good. https://bhopalsflowers.bandcamp.com/

Thanks, Clapton is one of the best and they keep him alive in that rendition of a great song. I saw Clapton live once back in '75' , favorite new(er) stuff is Eric with the late B.B. King: https://store.acousticsounds.com/d/105177/Eric_Clapton__BB_King-Riding_With_The_King-FLAC_88kHz24bit_Download

THX AAA 789 Amazing sound
Online reviews spoke highly, but I was suprised by the detail in the sound. I was using a Dac/amp with an msrp of 1400 so I did not expect much. I did notice an immediate clarity improvement. Music, specifically words were no longer blurred.Singers seemed to make more of an effort to enunciate words more. Even using a $100 DAC the sound was top notch. Drop hit a home run with this product.

I have a fat wide head and am sensitive to the clamping force of headphones. My question is, why are the clamping forces of Drop headphones reportedly higher than the ones from the original manufacturer? For example, according to measured tests on rtings.com, both the Sennheiser HD5xx, HD58x, and HD6xx have much higher clamping force than their respective Sennheiser original models. This also seems to ring true with the Drop x Meze 99 headphones, where Meze 99 forums are saying there's almost no clamping force but the some on the Drop forum are saying the collab version's clamping force were "quite high." Is Drop requesting that headbands be tighter on the collab versions? What's going on? Also, can anyone suggest me a comfortably wide/large headphones? I'm currently using AKG 7xx and they're super comfortable.

How to connect my laptop to DROP + THX AAA™ 789 LINEAR AMPLIFIER
I have the Focal Elex. I plug it into the mini plug audio output on my HP laptop and listen to Youtube music, and some Wav tracks saved on my computer. How do I connect the following unit into my laptop to improve my listening experience? Do I need a special cable that goes from my laptop into the DROP + THX AAA™ 789 LINEAR AMPLIFIER ?

The upcoming Drop HD 800 in the works vs my existing Drop Focal Elex
I'm very interested in the upcoming custom Drop HD 800 https://drop.com/buy/drop-sennheiser-hd-8xx-headphones#overview. I'm aware some noted mastering houses use the older HD 800(S?) so that peaks my interest in them. It seems the Senn is sometimes used to identify any treble artifacts in tracks. I currently use the Elex, and I really like the relaxed, fairly accurate sound. 10 months of use now, and I just had the left driver fail. Drop is sending another new set as I type. I feel like I'm dealing with a finicky product with the Elex, and that is a drag, but the sound is working and I enjoy them. Oluv, on Youtube, compared the Elex and the HD 800S. The Elex was better in some ways, though some felt otherwise. I guess I could sell the Elex if the Drop HD 800 smokes it. I see that I can return the Drop HD 800 if I don't like it, so I just ordered it. Shipping in November 2021.

CTH + SDAC is on the fritz. Can someone help?
So I've been using my CTH + SDAC for a couple years with no problems. However, within the last month or so, I've been running into a few issues: some hissing in the right channel (which is only really audible at 0 volume) and sometimes there are clicking sounds from the box during which the sound cuts out. It seems like it's struggling to stay fully active for some reason. I just bought a replacement 6922 tube to see if that would fix the issue. It seems to have solved the hissing, but there's still intermittent clicks that cut the audio. It's the same clicking sound that happens when the unit's LED changes from red to white and allows audio through during normal operation, but it will happen repeatedly and quickly in succession, without the LED changing, and the audio will go in and out. Has anyone had this issue or know what's going on?
