Happiness is having excessive amounts of vacuum tubes. These 6P14P-EV and 6P3S-E arrived today and are fresh from the tail end of the Russian stockpiles, both having date codes of the early 80s. They’re basically equivalent to EL84 and 5881/6L6WGB tubes and sound great in both guitar and audiophile application.

No idea what you paid for all that but the packaging/labeling was worth it. PS: time for a manicure--actually, past time!

RayFThat there is $950 of thermionic valves, not counting tax or shipping, of course. Far more than I should have probably paid, but wildly cheaper than sourcing similar tubes domestically. The packaging is usually neat, especially when talking the Soviet era military stuff. The art style on the individual tube boxes almost makes me feel bad when I've gotta tear them open to get to the crunchy centre. Almost. And yes, I trimmed my claws. :P

I dunno, looks like you better order more. There's tube gear on my radar, lemme check which ones Freya+ uses ;-) Ok it uses the 6SN7... I don't suppose they're interchangeable? I have a lot to learn about tube audio components before I actually buy one.

Only RCA red base can fetch that much. I usually use Brent jesse, and he can sell VT-231s from RCA and Syl for $100 and offers quite a few other alternatives. He is on the a little more expensive side, but so far his tubes are stronger than ebay ones.
