Why is the custom keyboard community so confusing?

more_vert
You could say I "discovered" the keyboard community online about half a year ago. Upon discovery I immediately was shocked by the variety of keyboard layouts, key caps, switches, and kit combos. But it was all very confusing, there was NovelKeys, Massdrop (Drop), Rama Works and many many more websites where you could find keyboard components. This made it difficult for someone who was new to this community. To this day I ask myself, why don't all custom keyboard manufacturers just sell their designs on Massdrop or any single website, so that there was one go to place for all new group buys and updates? You could compare models more easily and you would not have the fear of missing out on group buys. If you think about it the less confusion the more newcomers will enjoy spending more for parts. The more customers the more makers and therefore more variety right? Maybe its a stupid question, with an obvious answer and maybe it is nicer the way it is...

That sounds like a monopoly lol. Also, duties and shipping, keeping stock, communities have different interests ect.
