For amps i recommend the Schiit Heresy, JDS Labs Atom, or the Monolith Liquid Spark. All three amps offer more than enough power for the vast majority of headphones you could throw at them. They all can also act as a pre-amp for active speakers, and have low output impedance, so they can be used with sensitive IEM's without distortion. All amps are so capable that you can't go wrong no matter what you choose. The biggest feature difference is that the Atom has an additional input as a 3.5mm jack and the other two do not, though it has the worst build quality. For DAC's my recommendation goes to the Topping E30, or the S.M.S.L Sanskrit 10th MK II as they both measure fantastically with excellent sound and offer very good features. Some alternatives are the JDS Atom DAC, or the Schiit modi, both of which aesthetically match perfectly with their respective brand amps, while still offering excellent performance, though less features than the other two amps. Again there are no bad choices here, so go with what features fits your needs, or looks the coolest and you will be fine. You can also go with a DAC/Amp combo for simplicity. The Topping DX3 Pro is a fantastic option that offers a lot of quality features such as Bluetooth. Thought it does have a higher output impedance so it isn't really suitable for IEM's, but is fantastic for higher impedance headphones. The FiiO K5 Pro is a solid alternative to the DX3. it offers less features, but it still offers enough performance and sound quality to handle almost anything you throw at it, while being very inexpensive. It likely represents one of the best bang for the buck options in high end headphone audio. The combo units will have slightly worse amps and DACs compared to the standalone units, however that won't really translate negatively in real world use, and they both are still exceptionally capable. All options provided here will be more than enough to handle DT 1770's and really most headphones on the market with no real issue, while offering great sound. You can pretty much use any amp listed, with any DAC listed, so just go for what features fit your needs, and don't stress the choice, as there really are no wrong answers here. I will note, that I only covered more "budget" single ended options, because I believe beyond the price range these units fall into you get severely diminishing returns, with more expensive amps and DACs not necessarily sounding/performing better than these, but instead offering unique features that some may prefer. As well I did not cover balanced options, as the DT 1770's don't support balanced without heavy modification. Also, I don't view balanced output as something that offers much realistic benefit compared to unbalanced. That said I can go over some options if you want. Otherwise feel free to ask if you have any questions.

PC38x headset mic not working
I just got my PC38x and tested it out on my laptop. The headset sounds great but I can't seem to get the mic to work. In the settings, you can see the mic but no sounds can be heard. I've tried the mic in multiple different orientations. I believe it might be the cable or the headset but I'm not sure. I have asked multiple discord servers about the problem and tried many solutions but it does work.

Require Parts For My Alpina
Hi community, I have an Alpina AlpineraX watch which I require two of the three battery mount slot screws and one of the four backing cover slot screws as I lost them when changing a defective battery. I had the screws in a container and I dropped it on the ground. Alpina won't sell you the screws, but they want me to ship the watch to them so they install them and charge a large amount. I find this observe as I am an HVAC mechanic and repair much more complex equipment than changing a battery on my watch. Does anyone know who I can buy these screws from or would sell them to me directly, thanks?

Which headset is the most comfortable?
I know there are ways to adjust etc but I am a bit sensitive to the pressure the ear pads etc puts on my temples/ears. So which one puts the least pressure? Is there a measurement anywhere?

Is it worth spending the money to get a balanced DAC with the THX 789?
So I currently have the Schiit Heresy and the Schiit Modi 3, and that worked until all of a sudden the left channel in whatever headphone I plugged into the Heresy wouldn't work (I think it may have been a static electricity issue). I troubleshot the headphones, DAC, audio source, cables, etc., but clearly, the problem was the Heresy. Because of this, I plan on returning the Heresy and use a Drop gift card I got for Christmas on the THX 789 to run with my Modi 3 single-ended. I am wondering if it is worth spending the money on a balance DAC to pair with the THX 789. I currently own the 6xx and the Sundara. I have read that balanced will provide incredible sound quality for both of these headphones, but is it worth it to spend the $300+ on a balanced DAC plus cables that a setup like this will require?

Sennheiser HD 8XX - EQ or NOT
Musings on the subject of subjectivity This is a follow-up to my review of Sennheiser HD 8XX I had these phones - the Sennheiser HD 8XX for 3 months now and there was a moment in the beginning when I was seriously considering selling them and buying the original 800. So was the case especially during the first few weeks of listening to them when I felt there was seriously something wrong with their tuning. I am a firm believer in having audio equipment long enough to get adjusted to or accustomed to the gear so whatever I buy usually stays with me for some time until the moment that I have confidence as to their true nature. Some define this period of time as breaking in and one could easily say it is also a period of breaking the listener in as well. Anyway I let the time pass and see what happens… HD 8XX are certainly picky when it comes to equipment fit and tuning and they - as any gear - have strong as well as weak points / sides. To be able to fully appreciate high end...

Music Discovery
Where does everyone go to discover new music? Here is what I use Amazon Music which is where I buy most of my music. They don't seem to show me anything new that interests me . Tidal which I'm on paid trial for wants to push all pop music my way and I don't want that no matter how much I hit the like button for other genres such as Trance Deezer seems to do a good job of sending me new music that I actually want to listen to. Soundcloud gives me a lot of the music I am looking for. I really want to find a new place to purchase and discover great new Ska, Trance, and other new and fun music that is not Top 40 and over played.
