ARSDThis was my first piece of dedicated audio equipment, so my references are onboard DACs from my 10yo desktop and 5yo laptop.
It is better than those, the ones I notice are:
better low end response, bass seems a little more impactful
more volume headroom, my laptop outputted just about enough at max volume
slightly wider soundstage
feels like better dynamic range at low volumes, as music only seemed to sound decent at halft tilt or more on my desktop.
Naturally YMMV, these are my listening impressions when using Superlux 668b and Brainwavz HM5s, either of which are high sensitivity headphones and don't "need" an amp.
Can't say how this compares to other combo DAC/Amps!
