I've read a lot of posts that say Focal Elear / Elex cracking and distort at high volume (even around 80 db) with heavy bass, is it true?  I've read Focal's official statement, but some posts said the replaced one just don't have this issue...really confused

The only time I have had them do a vibration/clipping/distortion is at deafening volumes on Why So Serious from the Dark Knight soundtrack. I did it purposely to see what people were talking about. The song was played at well over 100 DB to create the effect. The extreme amount of travel on the drivers causes them them to bump into the housing at that point.

RyCanI had the exact same thing happening on the Dolby Atmos version of Celebration by Kool and the gang. The right driver started to thump into the grill sending gust of air tight towards my pinna. The volume was not that high as it was a night listening session. I was very surprised. I'm a little worried that this behavior could potentially damage the headphones

RyCanYou would not want to play any can this loud; your hearing would be damaged.
