Hi, I am looking for headphones costing up to 1000$ cad(750us dollars).

I listen to rock, hard rock and metal. I really want the cymbal crashes and the drums to stand out. I really enjoy high energy songs like "time bomb" by hollywood undead or "bang bang" and "pray" by the same band. I also enjoy power metal by bands like rhapsody, stratovarius, dream theater.

I agree with Beyerdynamics. Depending on if you want closed or open back I would definitely look into reviews of the DT1990 & DT1770 models. I’ve briefly listened to both however I was at a NAMM show & not a good environment to really hear their full potential. But ever since that day I have been craving a pair of closed 1770s! VERY “rock & roll” sound IMHO. Those both have top notch build quality & the closed back really punch hard with great sparkle in the top end. Some feel they can get a bit fatiguing after a while because of their in your face presentation but I really liked what I did hear. From your description I think these should be on your short list. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

Get the Grado Hemp if you are okay with something on-ear. If not, I recommend scouring for a Focal Elex. However, I have to ask: what's the rest of your chain? Both the above headphones can be downright unpleasant through the wrong chain; Focals in particular can sound shouty, thin, and metallic through the wrong setup.

mahon232Okay, in that case I stand by my recommendations. I would NOT go Beyer with that amp.

You may want to look into the Beyer Dynamics products, some of the Grado Labs like the 325 will be under your budget a good choice for the sound you’re after as explained, also the RS-1 series.... any of them .... i ... e...
