I know this seems like a ridiculous question but I feel it attests to the thoroughness and attention to detail taken to put this pack and all the Durston products together...does the lighter color XPac material get super dirty and stained after good use? I know I know right!!?? That's truly my only hang up to getting it.

Fair question. I've seen similar worries from buyers of HMG packs but those packs are a stark white throughout (they do get darker over time). A few points here are: 1) The lighter material is only used in more protected areas of the pack (e.g. not the bottom, back panel etc) so it shouldn't be getting that dirty 2) The lighter material is a light grey. It's darker than it looks in many of the product photos (I think due to more stark studio lighting), so it's not the almost white that it looks in some pictures. You can see in this outdoors picture that it's a bit darker:

Anyways, you could obviously get it dirty, but it doesn't show dirt that much because it's not a stark white, and it does clean if you want to wash it (e.g. warm rag, or remove frame and put the pack in the washing machine). My wife just completed several weeks of straight hiking with hers and looks fine. So I don't think it's a big worry, but if you wanted to take extra pre-cautions you can spray it with Scotch Guard fabric protected so it cleans more easily.

dandurstonThanks Dan, great advice/info as always. Tent looks great so far FYI. My first pitch went well thanks to your video and the very simple instructions attached to the bag.
