Will the CTRL keyboard trigger a security alert?

more_vert
I work for the government and we have strict rules about what USB devices can be plugged in. Keyboards and mice are fine, but I'm wondering if the fact that the CTRL keyboard can be flashed for the RGB settings (and maybe other things?) will cause it to be seen as a flash drive of some sort. Anyone else use the keyboard at work on a system with similar security restrictions?

The keyboard shows up as USB hubs and a keyboard input device, but not a flash storage device, so it would probably be okay. When it's in firmware update mode, it shows up as an "at91samd serial device" which looks like a serial port, but you could of course avoid putting it in programming mode while at the office.

Check Adrian's video if you want to know everything these keyboard controllers could do if in the hands of a malicious actor. : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkzUzgQX8x8 Just ask your IT guy if this keyboard is OK for them or they require a specific model. I don't think it'll be a problem to be honest, thumb drives are more of a liability than keyboards.
