Why won’t my Drop CTRL High Profile Keyboard not power up on a USB hub?
Hi, I have been using the Drop CTRL keyboard for a month to two now, and I love it. Originally it was plugged straight into my laptop with the included USBC to USBA cable. Then I tried to get fancy and I purchased a nice, custom coiled USB with a GX16 connector. That was plugged into my laptop as well. After a couple days the keyboard no longer was getting power. I thought it might be the cable but with every other device, the cable worked fine. I put the original cable one and it worked again. Then I tried rearranging my desk a bit and connected my keyboard to a USB hub that was connected to my docking station. Worked for a few days, then stopped. If I plug the keyboard directly into my laptop with the included cable, no problem. Any other cable or hub and it’s a no go. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do?
Hi there, I'm a brand new Drop ALT owner and my keyboard is working correctly except the LEDs do not function whatsoever. I flashed the keyboard using the files in Drop's GitHub + the default .bin file from the configurator thinking that maybe the firmware was the issue. This effectively bricked the keyboard and I needed to do a lot of legwork to get it up and running again.
I ended up installing the QMK Toolbox and flashing their default Massdrop ALT firmware on the keyboard and now I'm back at square one with an otherwise perfect keyboard that doesn't light up in any way.
I read that this board is very power hungry and I have made sure that it's in a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port on my motherboard. I have an "ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming" mobo. I've also attempted to plug the keyboard in with nothing else attached to my computer. I've tried other USB-C cables and I'm still scratching my head.
I'm not sure if it's important but when I connect the keyboard sometimes the LEDs will...
New Drop CTRL freezes or restarts itself several times a day.
I've got an RMA label but before I ship it back I wanted to check to see if there was a known issue and fix for this sort of thing? When it freezes, input stops and if the leds are on an animated setting it freezes too. Unplug and replug recovers it. Sometimes the keyboard seems to reset itself. Most mornings it'll be back on the default lighting.
I guess Drop doesn't have tech support. They just created an RMA.
Dont ever select "Free Shipping" option. It is FedEx Smartpost ("DumbPost")
FedEx SmartPost is the lowest of the lowest priority. "SmartPost" is a nice name they give to the most slowest shipping option. Your package will be delayed. Your package will take the longest route. Your package will be handed off to another courier; USPS. And yes it will take much longer than standard mail.
Always pick the better shipping option.
