phoenixsongI believe headphones would be more appropriate as there is a need for a sound stage effect. Its sole purpose would be for use with a hybrid grand piano with a 1/4 plug in - the need for accurate sound reproduction of classical music is most important. Also, they would need to be worn up to 4 hours at a time. With that said, I know little about iems, so if there are some that fit that bill I would like to know that, too. Thank you.

tbkurzHmm... I think for your use the Edifier H850 would be most* suitable. It is really light and comfortable, with an accurate, spacious sound reproduction and close to neutral tuning that belies its price. It is also easily driven, and uses a detachable 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable that can easily be replaced* with one of your choice if need be (just use a small knife to remove the interior soft plastic bumps of the original jack intended to only accommodate their proprietary cable). They are frequently on sale, and can be obtained under $30USD. Best of all, at this price, should you feel like they are not up to your standards there's little emotional burden in using them as portable headphones on the go instead :D My background: I consider myself a semi-audiophile who appreciates good sound quality at all price points. I have heard various systems ranging from turn tables to passive and active speakers and headphone setups. Ones I liked ranged from $5 to nearly $200,000 :p My mother holds a Master in Music History graduating from The Eastman School of Music, and she's the reason I've been listening to works of Mozart and other great composers since before I was born. I enjoy listening to live performances of her conducting friends, skilled buskers and quality Youtube tracks apart from her huge collection of CDs and vinyl records :p *Edited for spelling and grammatical error
