Updated PCBAs are already in the works. They will be a standalone offering as well. PCBA-mount switch support will be added, but PCBA-mount stabilizer support is TBD.

This is great to hear, and its even better knowing that you guys will be offering the updated PCB's as a standalone product for users who are using a CTRL/ALT and would like to have south facing LED's and 5-pin with compatibility. I for one will be picking one up myself as soon as they are made available. Having PCB-mount stabilizers is a lot to ask for but I really hope you are able to include the holes for them on the PCB to give users the option to use them, from what i can see with my own CTRL this shouldn't have any effect on the functionality of plate mount stabs (by making holes for PCB-mount stabs) however this is from what i can see and ultimately you guys are the ones who know if such a feature can be implemented without having implications with other areas of the board. Is this updated PCB going to be released in the near future or will it be a while until we see it on the Drop Store?

This is good news if the standalone PCB would for sale. I got the drop alt HP, barebones LP and another LP case. So I will have 3 functional drop alt keyboards if this were to happen :D

So glad to hear that. I would say support for pcb-mount stabilizers is even more essential than pcb-mount switches, adding it will make alt the best in-stock board on the market, even if utilizing those stabs will require modification to the case.

XuanXLIf the the new pcb supports pcb mount stabs, I think everyone would be forced to buy the top integrated plate/case as well. So I doubt that will happen, unless the new top case/plate can have dual compatibility with PCB and plate mounted stabs. I think most people would rather buy a whole new keyboard rather than buying a new pcb and a top case/plate, maybe drop v2?

Is there a quarter estimate for this?

elemenopiThey had planned for the V2 CTRL and ALT keyboards to be released in Q2/Q3 of this year, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the updated PCBAs to be released concurrently. The issues with the current version, namely keychatter and poor configurator/QMK support, have also not been addressed yet. I'd wager that it'll be delayed, or that whatever is released this year is a half-assed product rushed across the finish line because budgeting and schedule commitments.

Hi @Elbert , can you give us an update on this project? As mentioned in the thread, the major issues with current version are the lack of support for 5 pin switches, PCB mounted stabs, VIA/QMK support, and south facing switches. You guys already have huge advantages compared to other competitors as of right now: being a trustable vendor, having a good aluminum case, and a quick turn around time for product. If Drop can implement these changes in V2 of the keyboard (or just the PCB), I am certain that Drop keyboards will beat other competitors' boards on the market.

pick_dDang. Was waiting to see what the news from @Elbert would be. Guess I'm holding off on getting an Alt until we know what's up with the revisions

J_WilliWTF, they hide @Elbert 's replies immediately. Picture of a thousand words. Was hoping for Drop CTRL with 5-pin PCB and fixed chattering, but guess I'll have to wait a lot, all things considered.

pick_dYeah its definitely a bummer. I'm sure with the pandemic everything has gotten delayed significantly. But it seems there might be some internal company issues at play here as well. Looks like Elbert no longer works for Drop, not sure what exactly he is saying that's making the mods hide his comments but could be some bad blood going on. Worried that Drop is neglecting the Mechkeys side of things. Hopefully we hear something this year

J_WilliThey are auto-hiding my comments. I have very good reason to believe my forced departure was politically-motivated and retaliatory. Of course, they'd never admit it because that's a bad look and illegal in some circumstances. They didn't like being called on their bullshit internally, and they certainly don't like it now. Seems like it's still business as usual.

user_01Dang man. I'm sorry to hear that. That's definitely a bummer. I appreciate the info. Looks like all is not right in the Drop world. Gonna have to give that GMMK Pro another look. Best of luck out there man, stay safe.
