Massdrop ALT configuration: "Could not open applet file"

more_vert
I followed the step-by-step procedure to configure the massdrop ALT that I received today and kept hitting this error: C:\Users\Quomel Imani\Desktop\massdrop>mdloader_windows.exe --first --download led.bin --restart Massdrop Loader 1.04 Massdrop Loader Copyright (C) 2018-2020 Massdrop Inc. This program is Free Software and has ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY Scanning for device for 60 seconds . Device port: COM4 (SAMD51J19A) Opening port 'COM4'... Success! Found MCU: SAMD51J19A Bootloader version: v2.18Sep 4 2018 16:48:28 Applet file: applet-flash-samd51j19a.bin Error: Could not open applet file: applet-flash-samd51j19a.bin Closing port... Success! The 3 files: mdloader_wiondows.exe, applet-flash-samd51j18a.bin, and led.bin are in the same folder. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks; I closed the PR in favor of this change. Note that there are releases 1.05 and 1.0.5 now, which might be a bit confusing

There is a typo in the latest version of the loader. This line is the change you need to fix it: https://github.com/ottobonn/mdloader/commit/a289ecc3c8c265de0d8adbcc1a74093b209edad4

I can confirm that renaming the applet file to 19 instead of 18 does work with the latest code from 5 days ago. Brand new alt just received today. That will do until the owner updates the repo.

Yea check your filenames, notice it is trying to load "51j19a.bin" when you have provided "51j18a.bin". My guess is that they are yearly releases that Drop forgot to add? Anyways I just changed the name of the file and it worked for me lol

Just change the filename from "51j18a.bin" to "51j19a.bin".
I was able to find a fix here - https://drop.com/talk/10343/how-to-configure-your-alt-keyboard Please see the solution from KemoNine, it worked for me.

Same issue. Looks like Drop broke their loader. The applet-flash-samd51j19a.bin doesn't appear to be offered.
