Problem with 3.5mm AUX cable of Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphone

more_vert
There is a slight difference in the length of the two 3.5 mm connectors of the AUX cable included in the Drop + THX Panda Wireless Headphone. One connector is slightly shorter than the other (by about 1 mm).

When that shorter connector is inserted to the headphone, the contacts cannot fully connect to the headphone, rendering the right side of the headphone muted. The problem doesn't happen if I plug in the longer connector to the headphone. Does anybody encountered such problem? Hope Drop can fix that problem and send me a replacement cable.

The one with the short sleeve is decidedly defective, and even the longer one is probably defective. According to the specification for a mini stereo TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve), the sleeve diameter is 3.2 mm (1/8") +/- .1 mm, and the length of the sleeve is 5.5 mm +/- .05. If we assume the actual sleeve diameter of these plugs is 3.2 mm, the short sleeve seems to be only about 4.3 mm. The longer one seems to be about 5.1 mm, so it as well is shorter than the minimum length required by the specification (5.45 mm) and should be considered defective (even if it works).

This is really nothing at all. Just paint a small dot or put a small notch on one side of the connection housing so that you can easily orientate to cable.
