Spyderco Lil Native Rebuild with Copper Scales The scales are stock Flytanium Lil Native replacement scales that I gave a quick thermal patina. Which is as simple as cleaning them thoroughly and sticking them under the broiler until they start turning colors you like. Funky little stepped pivot on the Lil Native with a groove in it. Maybe a reservoir? No other surprises though. Good little build, easy to disassemble and reassemble. They call it the 'Lil Native' because of the blade shape and the size (this is smaller than a Native 5) but it's built nothing like the Native 5 -- more like the Para 3 when disassembled as you can see.

Btw, a handy reference for thermal patina on copper: https://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=194516

How's the weight on these scales? I've been eyeing the Lil Native for a long time but the Para 3 looks good too.

SargeIIThe Lil Native goes from 2.4 ounces out of the box up to 4.6 ounces when you put these on, so you're talking about a difference that is easy to feel in the hand or in the pocket but you're still at a weight a lot of people find reasonable for a pocket knife. Still feels within proper proportion to me -- as subjective a thing as that is to say. Picking it up, opening it, closing it, cutting with it, you feel the weight but it doesn't feel like you're struggling against it, the balance is pleasant.
