I live in Utah so a decent amount of my backpacking trips are in red rock country, any personal experience with this or are there any reviewers that pitched this tent in similar areas?

Some areas can be harder to put stakes in, so being familiar with using rocks is good (e.g. carry extra cord) and also carrying the right stakes for the conditions (e.g. wider/longer ones for softer soils). You may also prefer a groundsheet if you camp on bedrock often. I'm working on developing those and plan to have them available on DurstonGear.com around spring.
