What do you like/dislike about it? Just getting into EDC knives and have been looking into well-regarded budget options. Bestech and Civivi have been two brands I consistently see praised.

OfficePoliticsThanks for asking :) Bestech and Civivi budget line knives are praise worthy. I would put them pretty much on the same level, given the examples I own from each. They are great options for the budget level for several key reasons... First off, they are not expensive, i.e., greater than $30 and less $50. If these knives were manufactured in the US, dare I say they would certainly approach and go beyond $75. The quality of materials and assembly is probably most impressive. The fit and finish, for the Bestech/Civivi budget level knife, is remarkable. Specific to the ‘Lion’ the dimension and overall size for me is especially good. I generally lean towards a 3.5 inch blade for an EDC, and the Lion fits that. The grippy G-10 scales and dimension of the handle inspire confidence when handling the knife in all respects, including pulling the knife out of pocket as it is held in place by the polished stainless steel pocket clip, deploying the blade with a properly sized flipper and tuned detent resulting with a crisp satisfying “twack!” as it locks in place, before the knife is used for intended purpose. The liner lock sets up at about 45 to 50%, as a best guess, which is quite acceptable. By the way, as a side note, that “twack!” adds to the fun factor as one fidgets and plays with the Lion :) Other notable details include perfect blade centering, recessed pocket clip at the attachment point, skeletonized stainless steel liner to save on weight, and, of course, that glass breaker point integrated into the back spacer with a lanyard hole. I have to admit, I’ve never used any knife to breaker a glass/window (the last time I broke a window was when I threw a brick through a car window... I was twelve then... whole different chapter in my life). Other than stropping the blade on some “fine” treated leather, I’ve have not sharpened this knife.... initially, the blade came SHARP! If I had to pick on weaknesses, they would include: the aforementioned pocket clip in that I wish it would allow for a deep carry; the blade material is D2... while D2 provides good edge retention and durability, under humid or wet conditions, D2 will tend to rust/pit/corrode. So, it would not be a good knife to use, for instance, while fishing/hunting. However, one can use some petroleum product to ‘coat’ the blade and keep it coated and avert blade deterioration. In short, many boxes are checked off with the ‘Lion’ model from Bestech. Hence, I would not hesitate in the least bit to recommend the Lion to become an EDC for you. Be fair warned, the ‘knife acquiring monster’ may find you, and you will become helpless. Good luck :)
