Raffir's pricey, it turns out. It's handmade in the EU by workers making EU wages. More to the point pricewise, for the same price you can get a lighter carbon composite scale which will be more dimensionally stable. Raffir has things going for it, like a cool unique look and at least in my books it has a nicer handfeel. There's just a touch of elasticity to it, whereas carbon composites are hard to the touch. But I think that softness is what pushes some manufacturers away from using it, as raffir scratches a lot easier than carbon fiber or G10 or FRN or indeed most types of handle material. The scratches can be buffed out, but that's an extra step to complicate both the workflow and the overall cost, which matters to the manufacturer's costs and timetable. Don't get me wrong, I like my Raffir handled Mamba too, but price and costwise I think it's likely to remain a bit of a niche material, found more on 'presentation grade' pieces and 'full dress' customs than on commonly EDCed knives.
