How to get 2 sources to 1 headphone

more_vert
I'm wondering how I could hook up 2 amps (or sources in general) to 1 headphone. Would this be as easy as getting some cord being the opposite of an audio splitter, or do I need a dedicated mixer or something?

You can't use an opposite-of-an-audio-splitter cord because the the output of each amp would be trying to drive the output of the other amp, which is likely to cause severe distortion. You need a mixer or switch. The usual way to do this would be to use one amp and put the switch between the two sources and the input of the amp.
