j-e-gIt is called a "bullet" sharpener. It is made by Möbius & Rupert. I like this sharpener because it creates a shorter point than traditional burr sharpeners we used to use in American schools. If you have purchased coloured pencils recently, you will see what I mean. CW Pencil Enterprisers sell the same sharpener on a key-ring, if you like the idea of having a sharpener on your key ring, or attached to other EDC.

snowflakeschanceThank you - I did a little googling and I see them on Amazon. I put one in my car for next time I order. I wonder if you can answer this for me - There are M & R brass sharpeners in different shapes. I wonder if you (or anyone else ) Can tell me which is the most efficient and comfortable to use. I ask because I have days where my hands decide to do their own thing, and my grip can be less than efficient :/ Ergonomically, can any tel me which is easiest to hold ? For now, I have the round/bullet sharpener in my cart - Thanks !

j-e-gI have a two-hole round sharpener from M&R, as well. I find it to be more difficult to use than the bullet sharpener. You might have trouble with the bullet sharpener if you have large hands. The texture will help you keep a grip on it, though. If you look up reviews on YouTube, maybe you can get an idea of what others suggest? Personally, other than a crank or burr sharpener I have from Mochi Things, the bullet sharpener is my top choice for carrying with me and my most used.

snowflakeschanceThanks - I am thinking I'll try both - they look durable and that always appeals to me. IOne may work better or me or I may get lucky and both work well for me ! I appreciate your feedback :)

snowflakeschanceFirst - Thanks for the info on the M&R pencil sharpeners ! I ordered 2 of them from Amazon. The Double Round Brass Bullet Sharpener ( $ 12.25 ) and the Triangular Magnesium 3 function Pencil Sharpener ( $ 9.75 ). Right off the bat some might think 10 or 12 dollars is a bit much for a hand held pencil sharpener...... I can't tell you how many pencil sharpeners I have purchased over the years. I am sure I have spent more than 10 or 12 dollars trying to find one that works well. My advice would be to bite the "bullet" (pun intended ) - These sharpeners are well worth the price and you won't be on the never ending hunt for a good sharpener. Both shapes are easy to hold- partly because the blades are plenty sharp so turning the pencil is easy. My thinking is that duller blades on many sharpeners require more effort turning the pencil requiring you to grip the sharpener more firmly. Sharpening with these is very easy. The Brass 2 hole fits standard size pencils and the larger hole works perfectly for the CARAN d'ACHE color pencils. The triangular one has 3 holes with 3 different blade lengths for short to long points. I am very happy with both of the M&R sharpeners. With these and the KUM Automatic 2 step Long Point sharpener, I think I can end my search. Thanks @snowflakeschance !

j-e-gYou are quite welcome. I am glad to hear that you like them. If you ever want a good burr-type sharpener, M&R make one that retails for about $40

snowflakeschanceOoh that is a pretty little sharpener; dealbreaker for me is that I'm often not near waste disposal so I only use sharpeners with receptacles now.

MaitaI use old medicine bottles for pencil shavings. The brown medicine bottles do not recycle, so they are good for pencil shavings. I simply throw them out when the old medicine bottle gets full.
