Hi darklyger64, could you tell me if in your opinion it's worth it to buy the GSX 300 to use together with the PC38x? For context, I use the PC38x with my laptop without a DAC or Amp right now.

Though I may have placed a negative review on Amazon, I still use the product. I initially bought GSX300 because I wanted to experience 7.1 virtual surround sound and surprisingly the device works well. The device itself is great, but is heavily reliant on the software. This would mean that if you have Windows 10 and it auto updates, there will be instances that certain updates will cause software issues. As of now, they have fixed majority of the bugs that plagued the GSX300, I bought this device as a gift for myself and it was great at first then the bugs came and now its great again. GSX300 powers the PC38x well, but I am a Volume Junkie so I bought an O2 Amplifier (but this amplifier was just too strong). The thing that makes the GSX300 great is the software part, but would also be its downfall. I used to wear a Sennheiser HD599 SE and I would tinker it to suit my taste depending if I was listening to music, to movies, and playing games. As of the PC38x, I did not really need to tinker much on the EQ because I find its sound signature (though it took awhile since I grew accustomed to HD599 and have been using it for over a year) best suit my taste on music, movies and games (though kinda bassy at times, thus I tend to EQ the bass a bit). In short, if you want to experience surround sound without tinkering with programs, if you wanted to adjust your EQ settings without the complexity of other programs, along with good mic adjustment (and the side tones works now, but they have better clarity on closed back headphones), along the portability and the lack of addition power cords to power amps/dacs then this is a buy on my personal opinion. It managed to lived up to my expectations after 6 months of struggling to love it due to bugs, just expect to have a lot of bugs on the software on certain Windows Update (though they usually update the EPOS software if there's a major bug).
