I'm thinking about buying these eventually to replace my current headphones which have started crackling after only a year of ownership because they're so cheaply made. For $400, I should hope these headphones will last forever. Have any owners of this headphone encountered any problems with build quality like this? Thanks

The headphones seem somewhat fragile. The first pair I had worked fine until the left ear stopped making noise, so Drop let me get a replacement. 5 months later just a few days ago, I dropped that pair on the floor. They only booted up once since then and only work in passive (3.5mm jack) mode now. If you make static electricity (e.g., taking off or putting on a jacket/coat) and put your hand near the headphones so as to give them a shock, they will power down. They do not fold up, so they are bulky when stored and more likely to break if stuff into too small of a bag/backpack/luggage (though this has not happened to me yet).

No problems here, they seem built pretty solid, sound great too, imo.
