My experience as a 6XX owner has been that more power = better results. The low end fills in more (in a tasteful/classy way, not a rumbly/thumpy/beats-by-dre way) when supplied with an abundance of watts. Straight off my phone < straight off my laptop < Small Portable Fiio Q1 DAC/AMP < Schiit Jotunheim single-ended connection < Schiit Jotunheim Balanced XLR output The Jotunheim is rated to (a lot) more power output over it's XLR output then it's single-ended. Once I got a 3rd party XLR cable for the 6XX from Periapt, and used that with my Jot, the low end frequencies that I had thought were missing with the 6XX suddenly showed up, and these became pretty versatile "all-around" performers, not just "great for jazz/vocals/easy-listening" headphones....

psuKingerHi psuKinger, id like to comment on your thoughts since i own the jot and the 6xx combo before in balanced connection with a handmade DAC modded by my friend, i would describe the DAC as organic as hell, instruments are barely naked not a single digital character (i own before the gungir multibit and my friend owns the lessloss dac before) in comparison both are not close to my handmade modded DAC, going back to the story my observation of 6xx jot combo tho it has power, the jot doesnt do justice to the 6xx, yes power of course but the character of the jot is transparent but flat as in solid statey and flat, what you need w/ the 6xx is amp that has angry sound in nature like the vali2 w/ russian tubes that my friend has too, then it makes the 6xx sparkle w/ no laidback sound (veiled, warmish). What i have experienced that the jot has perfect synergy is the elex, got damn sublime try it and maybe its an endgame for you. the 6xx also is very friendly w/ OTL amps due to its 300 ohms specs. You will need an outless transformerless amp like wooaudio or darkvoice. Till here and thank you, merry christmas
