Yeah, the FX-10 is a nice little amp and I have zero complaints. I also scored mine on eBay, but for ~$450, which is still freaking better than the new price of closer to $800 they run for these days. The sound quality is just about the same as this Cayin MT-12N, but I think the Cayin might have a small edge because 6N1/6N1P make for better (quieter/less-noise) phase splitters. I use JBL Studio 570 as my primary speakers and holy hell both of these EL84 amps can make them painfully loud. I <3 horn drivers, and those speakers are some of the best sounding I've found in the price bracket, and that is with all of my amps (especially the old PrimaLuna ProLogue 5). Of course, they aren't as efficient as the Zu, only being 88dB vs the 98dB of the Zu. I've tried to snag the Zu Omen Dirty Weekends for the past year and a half, but seem to always miss the window to order them. I may just have to bite the bullet and order one of the regular Omen sets. Either that or maybe a set of Foster folded horns with 6" drivers. Of course if I end up with super efficiency drivers... then I'd probably have more reason to buy (or build) a 6S19P based OTL amp in the 3-5w range.

FayneI should have mentioned that mine were the Dirty Weekends. It's worth contacting Zu to see if they have any in stock. They were out when I wanted mine but I requested from them and what do you know...they had the exact color I wanted the next day. I don't know if it was coincidence or they can just make them on demand and just not advertise it. I went with the blue ones and they are really nice. They do need some bottom end though and I have them paired with an ML Dynamo 500 sub which had died (my boss was going to throw it away) but he gave it to me and I was able to order a Dayton Audio plate amp for it and it pairs perfectly. I love your plans though with the folded horns. My dream is to make something similar to the Jubscala (just google it up - very cool design). Good luck and keep posting here - I love reading about these projects!
