Sennheiser HD 820 Headphones

more_vert
Sennheiser HD 820 Headphones are coming to the U.S. soon. I'm not positive, but it sounds as if they have a closed back and I wonder what that will do to their sound stage compared to the Sennheiser HD 800s which have an open back. I currently use an old Sennheiser headphone, an HD 540 Reference phone. I have never listened to another set of phones that sounds as good. The sound stage is amazing and the true reproduction of bass tones is fantastic. I'm a life-long vocal musician and I've been disappointed with the over-wrought bass in most of the current phones I've had the chance to audition. Do not misunderstand me. I love a strong bass sound when that is the intention of the artists involved in the production of the music. Personally, I think the reason much of today's music has an over-wrought, muddy, and harsh bass sound is because so many artists and their fans have permanently damaged their ability to hear accurately. That,if true, is extremely sad! I can't imagine what it would be like if I were to lose the ability to hear the wonderful intricate sounds of excellent music. One of my questions is if anyone has had the chance to audition the Sennheiser HD 820 yet? And what are your impressions? I hope that we can have a drop of the 820's as part of their introduction to the United States. Sennheiser I also want you to offer a significant discount to recognize the extreme influence Massdrop audiophiles have in the U.S. audiophile community. I would also like to know anyone's impressions of the Sennheiser HD 800s, if they own them or if they've had the chance to listen to them in depth.
thanks for reading these requests,
