I am interested in sub 4.5 pound backpacks large enough to carry a Wild-Ideas.net Bearikade Expedition Bear Canister (9" diameter by 14.5" tall) plus about 16 pounds of gear plus food and water. Doing a 9 day stretch between resupplies, the pack weight can get (with food and water) up to 40lb. The main bag should have a capacity of about 60L but total capacity is about 70-80L. Seek Outside has two bags that meet these requirements. ULA-Equipment has three bags that meet this need. Osprey has about 2 bags that meet this need. Granite Gear has a bag too. This is for doing long backpacks in the High Sierra.
